Barn and Backcountry.
Our dream home and hobby farm together, close to family.
Born on an apple orchard an apple farmer’s daughter, Jessie grew up in the landmark “Mill cafe” restaurant that her mother Carol owned and operated. Locals know her in Thornbury as the “running-girl”, running 10-15km every morning while pushing her 6 year old daughter Lou in a stroller!
Just hours after his birth, Brennan spent his first night of life at the family cottage in Thornbury. The Collingwood area has always been a second home for Brennan, increasingly so as his mother Maureen made the move full time move a few years ago. (There allegedly may be good wind and waves in the area as well…)
Since the initial first few chats about living together Jessie and Brennan have been 100% aligned in their vision. Brennan will continue working remotely for Auspice Capital. Jessie hopes to take our 10 acres and turn it into a sustainable “Barn and Backcountry” hobby farm, jumping through whatever loopholes we can with the NEC to generate some income from our new homestead (move in June17th!).
—Barn
We’re hoping to lease out the 2 horse stalls in the barn, grow farm fresh produce for our family and friends, keep chickens, a couple donkeys or highland cows, and subject to approval by the Niagara Escarpment Commission, include 1-2 short term rentals on the property. Stay tuned and follow our Instagram for more!
—Backcountry
The property is located in the heart of some of the best backcountry trails in Ontario. Across the street from Kolapore, some of the most technical mountain biking in the area, down the road from Duncan, one of the most popular hiking areas, 15min from most of the Collingwood area ski clubs, and 20min to Georgian Bay.

We hope to be able to share more about our vision soon!
